Retail Park & Leisure Site Surfacing

Car park, drive-thru and service yard surfacing for retail parks, supermarkets, leisure sites and hospitality — phased around trading hours.

Retail & leisure

Ask for insurance certificates, accreditations and method statements at enquiry stage — we would rather send them upfront.

A retail car park is part of the customer experience whether you treat it that way or not. It is the first thing a visitor uses and the last, and a potholed, ponding, faded surface tells them something about the business before they reach the door. It is also the part of the site you can least afford to close.

What we do on retail and leisure sites

  • Customer car park surfacing, resurfacing and repair
  • Drive-thru lanes, order-point areas and exit routes built for constant slow, turning traffic
  • Service yards, delivery bays and bin store approaches
  • Trolley bays, pedestrian routes and crossings
  • Bay layouts redesigned to fit more spaces, plus accessible, family and EV bays
  • Drainage corrections where water ponds at entrances or against buildings

Trading through the works

Almost every retail job is phased. We agree which sections can be taken and in what order, barrier them, surface, allow the material to cool and hand the section back before moving on. Overnight and early-week working is common, and holiday trading peaks are worked around rather than through.

Line marking goes back on before a section reopens, not at the end of the job — a reopened bay area without markings causes more complaints than the works themselves.

Why drive-thru lanes fail early

Vehicles crawl, brake and turn on the same few metres all day. A build-up specified for general parking ruts and shoves within a couple of years at the order point and the collection window. Those areas want a deeper construction and a rut-resistant surface course such as SMA, which costs more once and considerably less than doing it twice.

We recently completed a retail drive-thru surfacing project in Hertfordshire, delivering a durable new asphalt drive-thru area built for daily commercial traffic.
