As a guide, UK tarmac work generally runs from around £27 to £85 per square metre for a fully installed surface, with resurfacing over a sound base at the lower end and full excavation with a new sub-base at the upper end. Large commercial areas usually cost less per square metre than small domestic ones. The only accurate figure comes from a site survey.
Sometimes. If the existing base is structurally sound and levels allow, an overlay is quicker and cheaper than a full rebuild. If the surface is failing because the base or drainage has failed, an overlay will fail too — so we check the cause before recommending it.
Typically 24 to 48 hours for vehicles, depending on the material, depth and weather. Foot traffic is usually fine sooner. Avoid turning wheels on the spot and keep heavy point loads off a new surface for the first few weeks.
A properly constructed driveway usually lasts 15 to 20 years. Commercial car parks and yards depend far more on loading and drainage than on the wearing course itself.
Yes. Car parks, yards and access roads are usually phased so part of the site stays in use, and evening, weekend or holiday-period working is often the least disruptive option.
